Middle East figures of position and rank are taking note of DE-Tenants.org.
Citing research by DE-Tenants.org, a Twitter user with the handle @sufizaman2000, who claims on his account to be a former Qatari government official named Fawaz Al Attiya (فواز ال عطية) has used the social media platform to criticize Hamad Bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani (HBJ), the former Prime Minister of Qatar and the former CEO of Qatar Investment Authority. Mr. Al Attiya has 17.4 thousand followers on Twitter.
Fawaz Al Attiya
Fawaz Al Attiya identifies himself as a former Emiri Advisor and Official Spokesperson of Qatar. Mr Al Attiya issued Tweets on September 5, 2017 referencing DE-Tenants.org research. DE-Tenants.org does not endorse the Tweets and cannot independently corroborate their assertions.
September 5 Tweets
One of Mr. Attiya’s Tweets reads in Arabic: “التناقض هو تحريض قطر للشعوب العربية على الثورة ضد حكامهم بينما حمد بن جاسم سرق ثروة قطر ليمتلك فنادق بقيمة 30مليار”
The text roughly translates to: “The paradox is that Qatar is inciting the Arab peoples to revolt against their rulers while Hamad bin Jassim stole the wealth of Qatar to own hotels worth 30 billion.”
The Tweet links to a previous post by DE-Tenants.org discussing Hamad bin Jassim’s continued links to a QIA asset called Constellation Hotels. Constellation Hotels has invested in at least eleven world-class hotels worth approximately $5 billion between 2013 and 2015.
Another Tweet by Mr. Al Attiya again referenced the DE-Tenants.org article on HBJ’s interest in Constellation Hotels, this time highlighting specific research on corporate maneuverings in the hotel company’s structure. DE-Tenants.org revealed that in February 2017 HBJ and his family stepped down from a firm called Regis Investment SA. Regis is a 50 percent shareholder of the Constellation Hotels holding company. HBJ and his family were replaced by another Qatari royal—HBJ’s cousin and the former Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa.
DE-Tenants.org will continue to track Mr. Attiya’s and other Qatar officials’ communications on Twitter and other social media platforms.
